ToTheArk, in case you weren’t aware, is sorta-internet-famous solo artist Drewsif Stalin‘s “other project”, a band out of the Baltimore area. ToTheArk’s activity has been somewhat sporadic — they’ve had a revolving door lineup with a single here and an EP there — so it’s been a bit difficult to keep up with them. However, this week they surprised us with a cover of one of the greatest 80’s one hit wonders, Cutting Crew‘s (who?!) classic ‘(I Just) Died In Your Arms Tonight,’ done in their own djenty/prog-influenced metalcore style. Drewsif seems to get involved in some of the best pop-to-metal covers around, so you already know what to expect.

Entertaining enough! It’s somewhat faithful to the original, while putting their own touch to the song, as if they’re not covering the song out of irony, but for fond nostalgia.

Covers are cool and all, but what of their original material? They put out an EP in 2011 and a single per year since. Hopefully we can hear a bit more something substantial out of ToTheArk in 2014. Here’s their latest release, ‘Solipsis
