We’ve made it our goal over the past year to try and break some of the europo-centrism (the US is included in that term, by the way) that plagues the metal community by bringing you news and music from all over the world. I’m proud to say that we can now do that again, by introducing you to Outbreak On The Sun, a Dubai based band who serve and interesting blend of djent, post rock and electronic music. Their aptly named Meanwhile In The Middle East is their third release and suffers none of the staleness usually associated with that. Head on over the jump for your first listen!

I chose ‘Move Aside Before The End’ not only because of its brilliant name but also because it really captures what this album is about. It starts off with a dreamy post rock intro, slowly building up towards the middle as is done in this sub genre. However, instead of the black metal tinged crescendo which would usually inhabit the middle of the song, we find a well constructed and performed, djent-influenced breakdown.

This is how the album behaves. It mixes these two styles perfectly, using song structure in lieu of transitions and fancy elaborations. It also has some electronic tendencies mixed into the fray but these serve more as gilded edges rather than full on influences. In short, it’s fresh, engaging and well made. And it’s Name Your Price! What more could you want? Snag it right now.
