Remember that effort we’re making to post more video game-related news? Okay, well, we’re still trying that, but it’s clearly going only okay.

Anyway, as you may have heard, the 1994 first-person action role-playing game System Shock is getting a remake/reboot in the Unity Game Engine with Night Dive Studios at the helm. Though there is a System Shock: Enhanced Edition available on Steam, why stop there where there is more to be had?

Due out in 2017, the HD remake/reboot in the Unity Game Engine isn’t going to simply recreate the 1994 classic in the modern game engine, but will take its spirit and mold it into something familiar, but different enough to be engaging to modern audiences on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 audiences. As the hours tick away on the Kickstarter, with roughly 50 left to go at the time of this writing, Night Dive Studios announced that metal/electronic artist Zardonic joins the likes of Celldweller and Blue Stahli as part of the all-star lineup contributing to the System Shock remix album.

Portland, OR – July 26, 2016 – Night Dive Studios announced that electronic musicians Celldweller, Blue Stahli, and Zardonic will each create new tracks for the System Shock Remix Album when the System Shock Kickstarter campaign reaches its $1.9m stretch goal.
“Celldweller and Blue Stahli are a perfect fit for System Shock.Their space and cyber influence, excellent synth sounds, and top-notch production will make this remix album sound awesome,” said Audio Lead Jonathan Peros. “And Zardonic’s heavy distorted guitars mixed with aggressive electronic music elements add another level of excitement to the game. There is no way not to be pumped about facing off against legions of cyborgs when you listen to it!”
The original PC sci-fi cyberpunk game System Shock debuted in 1994 where players play as a renowned hacker that must face off with SHODAN, a ruthless A.I. that controls the Citadel space station. Widely considered a seminal release, System Shock’s bloodline can be traced through modern game franchises like Bioshock and Deus Ex.
System Shock surpassed its funding goal on Kickstarter already and with only a few days left is making a final push to satisfy stretch goal milestones. Read more about the campaign here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1598858095/system-shock

Very PR-y, but you get the gist. Anyone who knows their stuff knows that Celldweller is a big name already, but the addition of electronic artists like Blue Stahli and Zardonic should be enough to whet your whistle.

In the meantime, please enjoy this pretty slick jam by Zardonic, as it fits our theme. And if you are so inclined, head on over to the System Shock Kickstarter page to throw a couple of bucks their way.
