We’re about two months out from the release of the new Between the Buried and Me record Coma Ecliptic, and the anticipation grows by the day. Longtime fans seem to be divided around the band’s decidedly more melodic and progressive direction for album number seven but naturally around these parts, we’re stoked on leading single “Memory Palace.”

The latest cog in the Coma Ecliptic hype machine comes from Billboard, who have premiered an excerpt from the Making Of DVD wherein frontman Tommy Rogers explains the Twilight Zone-inspired concept of a man who enters a coma in order to revisit his past lives in search for something better. You can watch the video after the jump.

Ultimately, this isn’t necessarily anything we haven’t heard already, but it’s good to get further elaboration upon the concept of a record I’ll be spinning for the entire second half of 2015. Plus, if you’re a giant nerd like myself, it would have been worth the four seconds of watching Tommy track a portion of a song we haven’t heard yet!

Coma Ecliptic will be out July 10th on Metal Blade Records, with pre-orders available at this location. In the mean time, the band will be unveiling a music video for another new track, “Coma Machine,” later this month. We’ll pass that along as soon as that makes an appearance online.
