Royal Thunder are hands-down one of the best hard rock bands around today. They take the grooves of Zeppelin, the riffs of Sabbath and the powerful vocal presence of guys like Kurt Cobain and write songs that resonate deep within your soul. The band recently performed an intimate acoustic show in New York celebrating the release of their new album Crooked Doors, and a video from said performance can be seen after the jump.

Our buddies over at Metal Injection were fortunate enough to be invited to and bear witness to this event, and lucky for us, they recorded the video above while there. Royal Thunder as a whole reeks of so much talent that it’s almost unfair, but the biggest part of what makes them so special is the voice of frontwoman Mlny Parsonz, which words simply cannot do justice. As you can see in the performance, it’s impossible not to notice Parsonzes soulful, commanding and powerful vocal presence. She’s got one of the best voices I think I’ve ever heard in my life, something of a cross between Janis Joplin, Robert Plant and Kurt Cobain, and these new songs give her a lot of room to let loose vocally, which she most certainly does on Crooked Doors.

Crooked Doors is out now on Relapse Records. You should go buy this album immediately, but if you need further convincing, check out my review of the album when it goes live later today.
