There’s been a lot of talk about supergroups these days, especially with the recent announcement of Killer Be Killed, but the hype train doesn’t end there my friends.
Recently, in a talk with Team Rock Radio, legendary music producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir etc etc etc) let slip about two new supergroups that are in the works at the moment. First up, Menace, the brain child of Napalm Death guitarist Mitch Harris that features an eclectic group of musicians including drums from both Derek Roddy (ex-Hate Eternal, ex-Nile) and Mastodon‘s Brann Dailor and bass from both band mate Shane Embury and Dragonforce‘s Freddie Leclercq(!?).
Also, he let slip about another new project by the name of Tronos, which is commandeered by himself and Shane Embury and features contributions from Dirk Verbeuren of Soilwork, Troy Sanders of Mastodon and Billy Gould of Faith No More. It was apparently inspired by a mixture of classic Celtic Frost/Triptykon and their love of ambient music.

So I’m guessing it’s a prerequisite of any supergroup to have a member of Mastodon involved now?
