We never did get around to reviewing the self-titled comeback album from the mighty Extol, but take my word for it when I say it is hands-down one of the best, if not THE best album of the year. It is a perfect album in every sense, and if you’ve been living under a rock and for some reason haven’t listened to it, GO BUY IT AND LISTEN TO IT NOW.
The band has released a new lyric video for the album’s ripping opening track ‘Betrayal’ in conjunction with a special edition t-shirt as a collaborative effort to benefit New Life Mission Aid, an organization that assists homeless children in Kenya by providing food, shelter and education. The video can be viewed below, and the shirt can be ordered here. 100% of the profits from the shirt will go towards New Life Mission Aid, and if you feel so inclined to donate extra, you can do so at Extol’s official website.
The awesome design you see in both the video and on the shirt was created by Dave Quiggle, who has become one of my most favorite artists. Extol frontman Peter Espevoll also released a short video explaining how the song ‘Betrayal’ was inspired by a desire to help these orphans in Kenya. Now, some may immediately discard this campaign due to the very well-known fact that Extol is indeed, a Christian band, and they are doing this in response to their faith, but regardless of any difference in beliefs, this shirt was created for a very good cause, and I see it as a win-win situation. You get a really cool, limited-print metal band t-shirt, and you have an opportunity to provide much-needed aid to helpless, fellow human beings who aren’t able to help themselves. What’s to lose?
