Drop what you’re doing and pay attention, people: He Is Legend have entered the studio. Yes, you read that right; as of last week, He Is Legend is recording. A new He Is Legend album is coming.
This is particularly exciting because, well, He Is Legend freakin’ RULES. They started off as southern-tinged metalcore in their Solid State debut, I Am Hollywood, went full-fledged southern metal on their sophomore effort, Suck Out the Poison, and then became something different entirely on their last album, It Hates You, which was released back in 2009. Each of their albums is different from one another, but they are all amazing; take my word for it. Shortly after It Hates You was released, He Is Legend announced they were going on an ‘indefinite hiatus’, during which time frontman Schuylar Croom filled in on vocals for Dallas Taylor with Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. Then, in 2012, the band announced they were writing new material as well as touring plans. The band also announced via a fairly lengthy Facebook post the departure of founding drummer Steve Bache, who left the band to pursue an education, and the subsequent addition of new drummer Sam Huff.
Now, He Is Legend has entered the studio with producer Mitch Marlow (Advent, A Skylit Drive, In This Moment), who the band previously worked with on It Hates You. The band has been posting regular status updates on their Facebook page tracking the progress of recording, and all appears to be going swimmingly. The album is slated to be released via Tragie Hero Records, though no release date has been set.
Seriously, get stoked people. A new He Is Legend album is a very, very good thing. It Hates You is one of the best albums of the past 5 years. For those not familiar, get acquainted.
