…because it’s streaming in it’s entirety right now over at iTunes!!
That’s right, Hail to the King, the sixth full-length album from radio-metal poster children Avenged Sevenfold can be heard in all it’s mainstream-audience pandering glory over at the iTunes store, a full week ahead of it’s official release date.
They’re really wearing their influences on their sleeve with this album. Multiple interviews with the band have cited them saying that they intended for this to be their “classic” album, and while the songs certainly seem a lot more refined and groove-oriented than those on Nightmare, some appear to be total rip-offs, such as the fourth track on the album, “This Means War”, which is almost a note-for-note copy of Metallica’s “Sad But True”. That being said, there’s no denying the catchiness of some of the songs, and Avenged Sevenfold seems to be adhering to a less-is-more approach this time around. I suppose time will tell if this stacks up as their “classic” album, but either way, people are going to eat this one up.
So, what do you think of the album? Chime in below. And be sure to pick up Hail to the King at your local supermarket on August 27.
