If you have never heard or Rivers of Nihil, then you are seriously, seriously missing out. A technical/ progressive death metal band based out of Reading, Pennsylvania, Rivers of Nihil only have two EPs under their belt, but have rightly turned many heads with their highly technical and precise brand of death metal, which draws from a vast spectrum of influences. Metal Blade Records picked up Rivers of Nihil sometime last year, and yesterday, the band FINALLY revealed details for their upcoming full length debut, entitled The Conscious Seed of Light.
In case you couldn’t tell from the image above, the artwork for the album was revealed, which was created by none other than the legendary Dan Seagrave. How freaking sick is that? Dan Seagrave has, of course, done the artwork for many metal albums which are now considered classics in the genre, and, while I have no idea whether or not Rivers of Nihil’s debut will live up to their forefathers’, the fact that Dan Seagrave did their cover gives the album that “classic” appeal, which makes me even more stoked. If the album cover alone isn’t enough to get your mouth watering, The Conscious Seed of Lightwas produced at Mana Recording Studios with death metal legend Erik Rutan of Hate Eternal, so between the natural talent of this band and Mr. Rutan acting as producer, this is going to be one hell of a debut. Needless to say, I’ve been waiting for this album for a long time, and I’m as giddy as a schoolgirl to hear it.
The Conscious Seed of Lightis due out October 15 via Metal Blade. Treat yourself today and get acquainted with Rivers of Nihil here.
