Ride On A Boat With Mike Portnoy, Devin Townsend, Animals As Leaders, and More Because Why Not

The cruise ship festival idea still hasn’t shit the bed! Every year, more and more concert cruises take off to varying results, but on paper, the radness of it all is undeniable. If you’ve got the cash and vacation time, it seems to me like the best bang for your buck as a music lover would be to go on one of these cruises. Barge to Hell and 70,000 Tons Of Metal are recurring successes, but last year’s attempt for a Mayhem Festival cruise was a massive failure. Hopefully this fate isn’t met by the new Progressive Nation At Sea event, which features the likes of Mike Portnoy, Devin Townsend, Riverside, Animals As Leaders, The Safety Fire, and more!

The first outing of Progressive Nation At Sea will take place February 18-22nd and will take prog fans from Miami to Great Stirrup Cay & Great Bahama Island. Obviously such a trip is expensive, and you’d be looking at dropping AT LEAST $725 for a ticket, and that’s assuming you don’t mind bunking with three other dudes. At the end of the day though, that ain’t bad considering it’s a damn cruise to the Bahamas with famed progressive rock and metal acts playing during the trip.

Here’s the lineup so far:

TransatlanticPortnoy, Sheehan, McAlpine, & Sherinian
John Anderson
Adrian Below’s Power Trio
Devin Townsend
King’s X
Spock’s Beard
The Flower Kings
Pain of Salvation
Riverside
Animals as Leaders
The Safety Fire
Tony Harnell & Bumblefoot
Bigelf
Beardfish
The Dear Hunter
Haken
Jolly
Next to None

More artists are to be announced. Hopefully they book a couple more “extreme” bands. Opeth’s been on the Progressive Nation Tour before, right? For more info, visit Progressive Nation At Sea’s official website.
