Ready to hear one of the best albums of the year? No? Well, too bad, as Italian classical aficionados have unleashed their latest Labyrinth to hear in full.
If Alkahest’s review of the record didn’t give it away, the group have delivered the goods yet again, with an album that refines and articulates the relentless brutality that they utilised on both Agony and Oracles. But there’s no point just taking my word for it, head over to Terrorizer here and get a earful — it’s a great way to make those dreary Monday’s a bit less soul destroying.
The album itself is based on the story of the labyrinth of Knossos, with guitarist Tommaso Riccardi explaining:
“We focused on the philological aspect in order to represent all the elements of the classic world and, through a manic and meticulous research, we managed to create a metaphor with our times, as the maze can be associated with the endless search for what we really are. We’re sure you will be stunned by this as much as we are.”
I can safely say, Labyrinth has me stunned.
