plague widow

I’m often scrambling for new content at the last minute in the late hours of the night for the next day. Last night (which for me is right now) was (is) one of those nights. After looking through my options, I thought to myself, “wait, shit, did we ever talk about Plague Widow?”

Nope. We didn’t. So here we are.

Consider this one of those things that’s better late than never; earlier this year, Oblivionized (whom we’ve discussed before) put out a split EP with an up-and-coming group by the name of Plague Widow. I thought nothing of it at the time, but I eventually came to find out that the group’s guitarist was none other than Hal Rotter, formerly of Slaughterbox and the one with the hair. I knew Hal back when Myspace was still a thing and this site was still sporting the domain name, so there was this obligation to look further into Plague Widow.

As it turns out, their breed of brutal deathgrind cuts deep. The band sports a touch of the deathcore on the split with Oblivionized (which is great, by the way!), but their self-titled EP is pure unfuckwithable brutality. Stream the entire thing below.
