euroblast 2013

I’ve always been envious of Europe’s plethora of top-notch music festivals, both big and small. America doesn’t have much going for it in this regard, and I’ve always wanted to make a trip overseas for one of the fests. Now, I’m not one for MASSIVE crowds like Download and what have you, but the smaller fests like Damnation Fest, Tech Fest, and Euroblast always seem to catch my eye because of the more esoteric lineups.

I’m mostly excited over the prospect of seeing Cologne, Germany’s Euroblast though, which gets bigger and better every year. This year’s full lineup has just been announced by Got Djent, and it looks like the holy grail Meshuggah has finally been nabbed as headliner!

As cool as a Meshuggah headlining fest is — and I’m sure the guys behind this dedicated prog show have been dreaming of this since day one — I’d be more excited to see friends of the site The Omega Experiment, Ever Forthright, and Cyclamen as well as Heavy Blog favorites The Ocean. At any rate, Euroblast is fast becoming Europe’s prog mecca. Imagine what these guys will be able to up on next year! I should start setting up a savings account so I can make the trip!
