Gaza are never coming back, long live the reign of Cult Leader. Even the prospect of new music from 3/4 of the line up that brought us No Absolutes In Human Suffering has me excited and so I’ve been chomping at the bit to hear what Cult Leader have been up to.
The internet has once again provided us that sooner than it should have, with some relatively low quality footage of a track by the name of ‘The Indoctrinator’s Deathbed‘ from a recent live show alongside Deafheaven and Marriages. Stick with it, the sound is a lot clearer when they’re not blasting. You can check it out below:
Difficult to draw too much from it beyond the fact that riffs are heavy and the , but hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer as the band have already studio time and presented some stone cold facts about the process in another post on their Facebook page:
Everyone has been wonderfully patient about recordings, so thanks for that and please keep doing so. In the meantime, take these things into consideration:
-Half of the members of this band are taking on new roles/instruments and building a musical vocabulary, rapport, and comfort level. That takes some time.
-Polish requires reps and time. Polish is putting detail work into the song and hitting nuances cleanly. Again, that takes reps and time.
-Reality. If we get a release out by fall, it will be the fastest that at least three of us have ever worked.
If you want to get a sneak preview of what’s to come, come to a show. Like the one we’re playing with deafheaven TONIGHT. Now, kindly fuck your own faces.
