Apparently James Malone of Arsis is not only a killer frontman and technical guitarist, but he’s also a professional when it comes to hair cuts. I had no idea that he was a barber or some sort of hair stylist; great hair isn’t something often associated with metal. I don’t know how much you typically pay for hair cuts, but I’d never usually pay more than $10. However, if you’re in the giving spirit and want to help Arsis fund their upcoming tour with Wintersun and Fleshgod Apocalypse, then $50 will get you a haircut from the man himself.

The novelty of being able to say you got your hair cut from the frontman of Arsis is reason enough to drop the money. It’d be like gaining some sort of weird bragging rights, or at least a cool story. Surely if it’s on tour, the setup probably won’t be all that extensive, but chances are, you won’t need anything elaborate done anyway. If Arsis were rolling through a nearby town and had the extra money, I’d have James cut my hair for sure.

Of course, that’s only one of the myriad of options available to fans for donating to the touring fund. Other perks include various merchandise, guitar lessons, and more. As of this writing, they’ve reached $1,239 of their $12,800 goal, with none of the haircuts claimed. Let’s see the Arsis Salon booked solid, eh?

Here’s the crowdfunding campaign plea:

As many of you may know, we are Arsis and we have been writing, recording, and touring in some fashion for about 10 years now.  Some of you have been following us since the beginning, some of you are new fans, but we sincerely appreciate ALL of you!  There have been many twists and turns, ups and downs over the past decade, but your patience and dedication has not gone unnoticed.
Recently we released a new album, Unwelcome, and we really tried to put all of ourselves into the recording and make the most honest record that we could. To  support the album’s release, we had what we thought was an amazing tour, but unfortunately circumstances got in the way. The headlining and direct support bands were forced to drop off the bill less than a week before the tour.
Despite the setback, we soidiered on along with Krisiun, one of the best bands in death metal, to turn a bad situation into a memorable and successful tour. We would like to thank everyone that came out to support the band during that run; your faces and energy really kept us going.
Although successful, we have really wanted a second chance to go out on a proper tour of North America to give the album the exposure we feel it deserves.  That brings us to our upcoming tour with Wintersun and Fleshgod Apocalypse!

We need your help!

This is a truly amazing opportunity for Arsis, and we are certainly grateful for the chance to go out and share our music on tour. Unfortunately, with great tours come great responsibilities, and this is a big tour with a big overhead. The current circumstances that coincide with such a tour have prevented us from “road dogging” in a van, which is traditional Arsis fashion, leaving us with a substantial amount of financial ground to cover. $12,800 to be exact. After exhausting all other possibilities, we must ask our fans for support. We need your help to keep our heads above water and be able to melt faces in a town near you!

What we need & what you get

With your help, over the next month we hope to raise the necessary $12,800. This goal will help cover such expenses as transportation, flights, booking fees, merch cuts to venues, the largest merch order we have placed in years, and much more. This is, of course, without even factoring in our own personal living expenses on the road or back home!

We are offering a number of different merch bundles and other services in exchange for your donations. Your help will ensure that we make it to every show and aren’t left mercilessly in debt, on the side of the highway. Please look over the options and know that we will be forever appreciative of any help you can offer us. Thank you in advance and we hope to see you on the road!
