Late last year, Jeff Tuttle of The Dillinger Escape Plan announced his departure from the band as a move to focus on other efforts including a tenure at film school. Somewhere along this timeline, Tuttle’s Old Gods project was revitalized and began work on it’s first full-length Stylized Violence which will see a release on the 23rd of July. In the build up to the release date, the band have unveiled a video for ‘From Beyond‘ in support of the album and it combines the band’s noisy punk rock with some evocative film work, helmed by Tuttle himself. You can check out the results below, believe me when I say it’s worth your time:
The video is courtesy of Revolver and came packaged with an over-arching explanation of the imagery:
“At its core, ‘From Beyond’ is about compulsion,” Tuttle says. “Why do we do the things we do? Why do we continually engage ourselves in activities we know will have negative consequences? It deals with both the conscious and unconscious drives that seemingly dictate our behavior. It’s about confronting these drives and the negativity they bring to your life. And naturally, when you refuse to comply, you may need to spill a little blood to do so.”
So be sure to keep an eye on this band, especially if you like your music manic, loose and fucking loud.
