Ihsahn has just been killing it since Emperor‘s disbandment with a string of critically successful solo records. The latest of which, Eremita, was released just last year, and while it didn’t necessarily top his opus in After, it was a great album that stood as a highlight of 2012. Typically an album cycle takes about two years to complete, but even though he doesn’t tour all that extensively, he isn’t taking a break. Ihsahn has already completed work on his fifth solo record.

Here’s the word, via Ihsahn’s Facebook page:

My new album is now finalized by the very capable hands of Jens Bogren and will soon be on its way to Candelight Records. We’ve not set a release date yet, but sometime this autumn for sure. Title and more information about it will be revealed later. Ritxi Ostáriz is nearly there with the artwork, and first photo session with Bjørn Tore Moen was done this week. My Mnemosyne companion, Starofash, has some informal behind the scenes shots on her blog.

Exciting news! I certainly wasn’t anticipating the release of a new Ihsahn record this year, but it looks like it’ll be coming our way this Fall.
