One of the most anticipated albums on the horizon this year has got to be the new Cynic record. The band’s transition from progressive death metal to this new age psychedelic prog fusion has alienated a few fans, but I couldn’t be more excited. The new record is evidently complete as far as performance is concerned, and now all that’s left is the mixing and mastering.
Frontman and guitarist Paul Masvidal issued the following update via Facebook:
“Hi, I’m here to share a moment of gratitude and excitement with all of you, our fans and listeners, of whom we owe everything to. The new CYNIC album sounds…
Every single moment on this record is with PURPOSE and INTENTION. The universe was particularly generous to us “conduit-types” on this collection of songs. Reinert, Malone and I will be spending next week hanging around LA studios (including our own) LISTENING and making final tiny tweaks before mastering. HUGS and STRENGTH to all of YOU. Thanks for your patience. I promise it will be worth the wait.
Stay TUNED, Paul“
I got to interview Paul back in April on the Death to All tour and he gave us some details on the new record. We’ll try and get you that interview in the coming weeks!
