The Omega Experiment is easily one of my favorite bands. The fantastic self-titled debut album made it onto a number of our year-end lists, mine included. The band have been doing great things since last year, including the re-release of their album on their new label Listenable Records and announcing that they’ll perform on this year’s Euroblast Festival. On top of this, the band are working on their sophomore album, and during the writing sessions, they’ve released a free download of their cover of the Queensryche classic, ‘Eyes of a Stranger.’

The Omega Experiment have always worn their influences on their sleeves, and Queensryche is an obvious one. Frontman and guitarist Dan Wieten has toyed around with the idea of covering the seminal prog metal group for some time, and it’s good to see it come to fruition. Dan & co. really did the song justice and gave it the modern prog sheen it deserves. Listen to the track above and download it here on Soundcloud.
