Solo albums from members of established bands are wildly hit or miss in the grand scheme of things. Often, these outings end up disappointing because the magic that musician had was either lost without the rest of the band or the music winds up being completely redundant, as if it should have been released under the original band to begin with.
Between the Buried and Me frontman Tommy Rogers’ solo project Thomas Giles is neither of those; 2011’s Pulse showcased the singer’s multi-instrumental skill and songwriting abilities in a way that differs greatly from BTBAM, which made the record such a delight. THAT’s how you do a solo album! I was worried that with the band’s busy schedule for the next few years supporting The Parallax II: Future Sequence that we wouldn’t get another Thomas Giles record for quite some time. Thankfully this isn’t the case, as Rogers is currently working on a new solo album!
Hello folks. This is Tommy and I’m writing to update you all on various things I’m involved in.
First off I’m starting to work on another Thomas Giles record. I hope to have it finished by the end of the year. Ill be updating during the writing process… Maybe. I’m bad about this whole social media thing… If you haven’t heard the first record, be sure and check out the links below.
Second, I’ve been working on a score for an indie film called Dutch Book. I should have this finished up in a couple of months and will update you all when I have more news to share.
Last, I just recorded some vocals for the new Safety Fire record. Stoked for you all the hear it. Comes out later this year. Check their sites for info.
Besides that I’m being a family man and enjoying time at home.
BTBAM will be on tour in Europe soon. See you all then! The band also has some exciting touring news coming up and of course you all will be the first to hear about it. Take care and thanks for listening.
A lot of interesting things going on with Rogers lately! Fingers crossed that this comes out later this year, but with a headlining BTBAM trek planned this Fall, it’ll probably look more like early 2014, presumably on Metal Blade Records. In case you aren’t familiar with the Thomas Giles project, here’s ‘Sleep Shake’:
