This is pretty strange news. ThePRP — who, keep in mind, is usually right about tour rumors — is reporting rumors that Avenged Sevenfold will embark on a headlining run later this year, and will bring in tow Deftones and Ghost. What?!

Despite the perceived popularity of Ghost, seeing them on tour with Avenged Sevenfold is odd. It’s cool that they have the opportunity to  play in front of such a large audience. Although, I’d wager to bet that most casual fans of Avenged Sevenfold and Deftones won’t get Ghost at all and will take their Satanism at face value. So there’s something to look out for.

I feel like if there’s a band that has ever played in my hometown, the broad scope of their fans may include people who are vehemently closed minded. Hell, during my local Avenged Sevenfold show, I’m told (because I sure as hell didn’t go) that the crowd largely hated supporting act Asking Alexandria, and it’s not because the crowd at the show was on our side of the music taste spectrum. Ghost aren’t as “extreme” as Asking Alexandria insofar as, so they might have a shot at not being the black sheep of the tour.

At any rate, this is a tour that you should show up early for, and then leave immediately after Deftones. We’ll pass on the dates when we have em!
