Alice In Chains are one of my favorite bands. Even after Layne passed away, their most recent record, 2009’s Black Gives Way To Blue, was great, although the debate still rages on due to its involvement in the infamous “loudness war” that plagued other artists. But Alice In Chains have been busy lately, with an impending tour on the horizon, as well as a new album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. A few days ago they released a new music video for their single ‘Stone’, which can be viewed below.
I really dig it, although I have an issue: their new singer, the very talented William Duvall, doesn’t sing enough. I chock it up to Jerry Cantrell wanting to still retain the AIC sound they trademarked in the 1990s. Jerry, you’re killer, but let the man sing! He’s more than qualified to handle these vocals, and I feel as if it’s unjust to have him singing mostly harmonies while you sing leads. But this album is sounding pretty good, as evidence from this song as well as their first single, ‘Hollow‘, which you can also hear below.
The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is out May 28th on Capitol Records, and you can preorder it here.
