There’s a special place in my heart for what I’d call ‘meat and potatoes’ death metal — that’s death metal that is straight-forward and blunt, exhibiting precisely none of the frills or distractions that have become common place in the genre over the years. If you needed one band to sum those ideals up in one go, it would most likely be Jungle Rot.
The band, who are still unbelievably signed to Victory Records, take great pleasure in stripping death metal down to the bare essentials and making do with it. ‘Terror Regime’ is the latest showcase of that sound, in support of the band’s upcoming album of the same name, and while it may be a little bare to appeal to a large section of us who have been spoiled rotten with bands playing a thousand notes a minute in time signatures that barely exist, it’s hard to deny the sheer amount of headbanging groove on offer here. You can listen here, over at Noisecreep.
Terror Regime will begin it’s reign of terror on the 19th of March through Victory Records.
