It’s almost as if Pyrithion, a new project featuring As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis, Allegaeon guitarist Ryan Gilsan and The Famine guitarist Andrew Godwin, just appeared out of nowhere in the last week. Unless of course I missed something, this trio of death metallers have kept things quiet until they were sure this exciting project came together. Here’s what Lambesis had to say about the new supergroup of sorts:
“I have wanted to do a heavier and more traditionally metal band for a while. Being that I own a recording studio, I thought a great place to start was by asking my engineer who the best guitar player is that he has recorded. I wanted to team him up with one of my favorite guitar players growing up.”
The group’s first single ‘The Invention Of Hatred‘ is available below:
The track will appear on the band’s forthcoming EP The Burden Of Sorrow, which will be out April 16th via Metal Blade. It’s only three tracks, but this apparently won’t be the last of Pyrithion; a full-length album is expected out later this year.
