There’s been a lot of talk recently about the declining appreciation of physical media in the music industry. Sales have dropped, and with illegal copies of albums available at the touch of a button, no one really seems to care about buying physical media anymore. Sales figures don’t lie, and if you’re not a top 40 artist, it’s hard to ever see any profit from album sales alone anymore.
However, there are some of us who still enjoy purchases physical albums, and the majority of the Heavy Blog staff are avid music collectors of both vinyl and CDs. So it’s no surprise that we’ve been particularly enjoying the latest clearance sale over at the Century Media webstore, CMDistro.com.
CMDistro.com features a wide array of metal and metal adjacent artists, and not just those on the Century Media label. It acts as a sort of distribution site for practically any metal band you could imagine, and I’ve hardly ever had a problem with their webstore (okay, they did send out my copies of Epicloud and Lost in the New Real about two months late, but that was a one time problem). And with this recent clearance sale (something they do sparingly) I’ve been adding new albums to my physical library pretty much every day for the past two weeks. Last night I spent seventy bucks on discounted items alone.
There’s a wide range of stuff to pick from here, and any fan of metal should be able to find a few things that pique their interest. And with costs as low as one U.S. Dollar, there’s really no reason not to at least go give this thing a look over. You can check out the mad deals right here, and let us know in the comments if you pick up any much needed albums for your collection. Cheers!
