Intronaut - Habitual Levitations

As you’re all fully aware, progressive/sludge metal group Intronaut are currently on tour in support of Meshuggah. At first, despite both bands’ progressive and technical leanings, it seems like an odd billing on the surface. Though upon hearing Intronaut’s new song ‘The Welding,’ it becomes more apparent. Intronaut have always entertained the groove and oddly timed swagger of math metal, but have always done it through the guise of sludge and post-metal. ‘The Welding’ opens just as you’d expect a Meshuggah song to open before the band’s more earthy psychedelic tones come through the mix, if that tells you anything about the band’s direction.

This new track is available for streaming over at Pitchfork. Go give it a listen, won’t you? The group’s new album Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words with Tones) is due out March 19th via Century Media Records. We’ll have pictures from Intronaut on their aforementioned tour with Meshuggah later today!
