There are bands that make a lot of waves by releasing a lot of material in a year’s time; The Ocean and Devin Townsend Project for instance gathered a lot of praise and for releasing two acclaimed albums in rapid succession. It’s rare to see a band release multiple albums within the same year, but when’s the last time a signed band put out four different albums? Grindcore/Powerviolence group Agoraphobic Nosebleed are doing just that, and to sum up the ballsiness of this move, the band and Relapse Records have put out a press release only fitting for the kingdom of “Gonzo Grind” that is ANb:
Gonzo grindcore terrorists AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED have entered guitarist Scott Hull’s Visceral Sound Studios in Bethesda, MD to begin work on their highly anticipated new material for Relapse Records. In true ANB fashion, the quartet will be giving zero fucks and releasing four independent full length albums, each in a completely different style and direction, representing the tastes and influences of each member of the band. More details will be announced as they develop.
Absolute insanity. I thought I was just looking forward to ONE follow-up to 2009’s excellent full-length Agorapocalypse, but now there will be a literal handful to be heard in 2013. As always, we’ll be sure to pass along more details as they come in.
