Unfortunately the band have disabled embedded plays, so you’ll just have to check out the two songs, “Carry The Cross” and “Torn” on YouTube.

After four long years of waiting, French progressive metal band Adagio have finally given us two songs that will be making the cut for their 2013 release. I would imagine the delay has to do with the departure of vocalist Christian Palin after 2009’s Archangels In Black album and Stephan Forté’s lengthy absence due to his kickass solo career. Now they’re back with the addition of vocalist Kelly Sundown Carpenter and the same band backing him for essentially the entire Adagio discography. Just from a musical standpoint, these singles sound like a throwback to the Underworld period of the band, though I’m curious to see what they’ll do with the usual orchestration and extra writing when it comes time for the produced versions of these singles to come out. Maybe they won’t change at all, which isn’t a bad thing; these songs sound awesome and Carpenter’s voice is magic.

In the meantime, head on over to their Facebook and jam on some of their older stuff!
