We just got a new Anaal Nathrakh record last year in the way of Passion, but it seems that the British duo are at a new peak in productivity. In the wake of promising more shows than they’d typically be playing in any given touring cycle, the band has just announced their new record Vanitas, which is a direct translation from latin meaning ‘vanity.’ However, there is proper context for the term beyond our use of it. According to Wikipedia:

The Latin word means “emptiness” and loosely translated corresponds to the meaninglessness of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits. Used in sense of “futility”.

Definitely sounds like appropriate Anaal Nathrakh lyrical subject matter to me! Vanitas will be out October 15th on Candlelight Records.
