This year has been an odd one for me. For most of the community it seems like everyone is enjoying this year a lot more than last; each month brings in several high profile releases that people keep raving about… until the next high profile album comes out. I guess that’s my problem; everything seems good at first, but it becomes so forgettable after only a few weeks. Anyone still talking about Koloss? Spawn of Possession? Veil of Maya? Not really. Those are cool albums without a doubt, but with the bar raised this year, everything feels so average in the context of this year’s releases.
Oh well, at any rate, here are the albums that I’ve enjoyed the most year; the ones that have blown me away and kept me coming back over and over. It’s kind of short, but that’s because I’m a grumpy Gus. Hopefully I’ll be able to add more to this list as the year goes on. Cheers!
