I love it when bands name songs in a way that more or less describes what you’ll be hearing. I guess it doesn’t happen too often, but it’s always cool when it does. Case in point, the brand new Deathspell Omega track ‘Abrasive Swirling Murk‘ likely has subject matter unrelated to its own sonic qualities, but it’s the perfect way to describe the band’s unique style. The new song, streaming now over at Deciblog, further establishes my belief that the band are black metal’s answer to The Dillinger Escape Plan. Just listen to the track and you’ll know exactly what I mean. Even if you don’t like black metal, there’s still a chance you’ll enjoy this barrage of cacophony.
‘Abrasive Swirling Murk‘ comes from the group’s upcoming EP Drought, due out June 22nd on Season of Mist. Pre-orders are available at this location.
