The Contortionist are easily one of the most exciting new bands to come out in the last few years. Their debut album Exoplanet is already a classic from my perspective; it’s such a masterpiece. Exoplanet could just be the greatest deathcore album ever, depending on who you talk to. So given this high praise, the fact that they’re in the studio working on the follow-up is something to really salivate over.

For those like me who adore the band and cannot wait for new information regarding their upcoming album, Metal Injection is going to be the place to be for a while, as they’re going to be posting exclusive studio updates when they become available. For this first update, we get to hear a moment of new music played via midi while drummer Joey Baca practices. It’s not much, but it’s something! You can see that above.

The Contortionist’s new album will be produced by Jason Suecof and Eyal Levi, and is tentatively due out late Spring/early Summer.
