Periphery are currently hard at work in the studio preparing their sophomore album, currently tracking vocal parts. Band frontman Spencer Sotello is pretty confident in his ability, going as far as insisting they go without pitch correction. A lot of people were critical of Periphery’s over-produced feeling and Spencer’s shaky start as a live vocalist, but in the above clip, it’s clear that he’s growing and developing his technique. He hits those notes perfectly, all without the need for pitch correction. A lot of people are saying he sounds like Protest the Hero‘s Rody Walker, and I definitely hear it here. This new album’s gonna rock!
After the jump, hear a good 16-second sample of the band’s tone direction for the new record, which is due out sometime next year presumably on Sumerian Records.
