I’m a bit behind on posting this as time seems to have gotten the better of me lately, but nevertheless I’m here with a new band you folks should check out. Earlier last week there was a post on Facebook that alerted me to a band that featured members of Light Bearer, Plague Mass, Fall of Efrafa and XZieglerX. While I’m only aware of Light Bearer, due to the release of their kick ass EP Lapsus, which came out earlier this year, none of the other bands have yet to make a blip on my radar. I shall rectify that soon enough though. However, since Light Bearer got my attention with Lapsus, an EP full of melodic post hardcore, progressive metal, post rock and ambient/atmospheric drone, I was quick to check out their side project, a melodic hardcore band by the name of Momentum.

A bit of info about the band; formed in 2011 and new to the metal/hardcore scene, Momentum deliver driving, epic, heavy and melodic DIY hardcore punk, which is aggressively crushing yet also uplifting. Their music is influenced by the words of Carl Sagan, and other luminary thinkers. The music forms around a set idea, that of our place in the universe, the hatred and anger and stupidity of a species of ape, on a small insignificant planet, but also our ability to look beyond these facile ideas and appreciate and begin to understand the awe of the universe.

Now if that doesn’t have you foaming at the mouth or the least bit curious, perhaps you’ll be pleased to know their debut album, Whetting Occam’s Razor is absolutely free! Just two clicks of your mouse and you’ll be treated to some gnarly tunes from this melodic hardcore band. There’s really no excuse for you not to check this band out, the album is free and it’s quite enjoyable! Do it!
