This shouldn’t be too much of a shocker, but I’m a massive Hevy Devy fan. He has an insane amount of skill as a player and the compositional clarity of Mozart. Maybe I’m being a bit too hyperbolic, but there’s no denying that this man is seriously gifted.
Not only that, but he’s also a hard fucking worker. In the past year Devin Townsend has recorded three studio albums — Deconstruction, Ghost, and Ghost 2 which has yet to be released — a live EP, and a Live Studio acoustic album. Now with that in mind he’s also working on the follow up to 2007’s Ziltoid the Omniscient, and a pop record under the working title Epicloud. When does this man sleep?
The man’s dedication to his craft is not only admirable, it’s fucking astonishing.
Anywho, to the point of all this, over the weekend the Ol’ Devster posted one of his numerous silly tour videos.
The most notable thing about this is the yet to be titled demo playing throughout the background. As one of the fine youtube commenters points out:
Having demos that sound better than most bands finished songs is just silly.
It really is kind of absurd how great even Devin’s demos are. Anyways, enjoy this tidbit of a video, and let’s all hope that Epicloud and all of Mr. Townsend’s other projects see the light of day with relative haste. Also, don’t forget to see the Devin Townsend Project on their North American headline tour currently underway. You can find dates here.
