I echo reader Brian Kessler’s above sentiments on this bit of news. Oh dear…
“We are excited to announce the signing of New Brunswick, New Jersey’s melodic, thrash-metal warriors, GOD FORBID, to a merchandising, publishing and recording deal. Both VICTORY RECORDS and GOD FORBID are veterans at their respective crafts, so it would seem that fate has now pieced together two longstanding staples of the hardcore and metal scenes. This marks the next chapter for GOD FORBID, a band that has sold 300,000+ albums over the last decade….
“We are so excited to be a part of the VICTORY family. We are very proud to bring our music too all the maniacs out there who are fans of the band as well as this label. We look forward to starting a powerful partnership which will bring a new energy to the metal world.” Corey, GOD FORBID“
Really? Nothing about this makes sense. No other label could give a better deal? eOne didn’t jump at the chance to sign another established critically acclaimed band that already sees a bit of anticipation on their next album? Sweet Christ. At least this is an improvement on Victory’s roster, I guess.
I assume this means God Forbid will be coming out with a record soon enough. It’s a shame that it’s coming from the same place that’s shoveling Design the Skyline, but what can you do? We’ll tell you more about the album when that info comes out.
