My friends, today is the day! My new album, The Great Worm, is available for the good ol’ price of ‘whatever you want to pay (including free)’ at my Bandcamp page. Check it out!
Not sure how I would describe the sound of it, but it’s very diverse—if you don’t like a certain song, do not despair because no two songs sound the same. Here’s basically how it shakes out: There’s an instrumental stoner metal intro track, followed by a death metal riff fest (with a bit of Meshuggah and what you might call—dare I say it?—deathcore influence). Then there’s a 1-minute grind song, followed by a Crowbar-plays-the-blues track (complete with Hammond Organ), then there’s a clean interlude which leads into the weird, proggy metal centerpiece. Then, of course, there is a jazzy black metal track followed by a jazz fusion/instrumental metal closing track.
So there, now you don’t even have to listen to it. But please do! It is not the best album you will hear all year (hell, it’s probably not even the best album by a HBIH writer you will hear all year—have you checked out Nayon’s The Anachronist teaser? Goddamn!), and the production is far from perfect, but I am really proud of it and I think it’s worth your time. I think good songs and passion outweigh squeaky clean production and Pro-Tooled performances any day. And I think this album has good songs on it, definitely the best I’ve ever written. So I stand behind it, and I hope you all like it too. Thanks for listening and cheers!
