So I’m sure I don’t really need to say much about this. Live At The Aragon will be coming out during Prog-Metal March, and the set list contains primarily their latest album Crack The Skye and more surprisingly a Melvins cover. I’m sure fans of the band have already made up their mind about buying it or not.
Mastodon are a pretty polarizing band when it comes down to it, people seem to either really love them or just hate them. Personally, I take the middle ground, I like them but I don’t think they’re saviours of metal or anything however I can think of far less deserving bands. They’re also a band I’ve never seen live but judging from the above performance which is considered DVD worthy, I guess I’m not missing out.
Shame really as Crack The Skye was a pretty intricate album and in an age where you can see a band like The Dillinger Escape Plan pull off everything flawlessly and still find time to improvise a little within the song, it’s a bit of a let down to see the material isn’t really getting the justice it deserves.
