UK’s Daggers Drawn landed in my inbox this weekend, combining influences from Meshuggah (without the djent worship), Gojira, and early Katatonia to create songs focused on heavy and catchy riffs rather than the infinite number of breakdowns that the kids these days like to play.

Daggers Drawn have some pretty good jams, it’s just a shame the production value is a bit lacking. Small bands have to start somewhere. There’s some definite potential here, and they are definitely worth keeping tabs on. You can listen to their EP on their MySpace page.
