The great hippy, folk band from VA, the Momentary Prophets, have been working on a new CD for some time now and finally we have some new music from it. The album is called Mandala and it is due out on 6/13/10 and I am extremely excited. The band now has three new songs on their MySpace from said album and they are amazing.
I see a maturity in the band more than usual. I have yet to listen to the songs for that long yet but the feeling seems to be more eccentric than past songs which talk about little birds and golden pudding. A prime example of this can be found in the song “Drawing the White” which honestly became a slap in the face to me. I was expecting more hippy music that made me want to dance but this song made me want to think and contemplate under a tree. I’m not sure if this was the angle they were going for or not but that’s what I’m getting. You should check out all three tracks on their MySpace and then tell me what you think in the comment section below.
Also, if they are coming near you then I highly suggest seeing them. They absolutely blew my mind and I will be going to see them again in late July. They are amazing and hopefully you check them out in between listening to Wolves in the Throne Room and Painted in Exile.
