An Unsatisfying Cover For An Unsatisfying Album?

This is the new cover for Korn‘s upcoming album “Korn III: Remember Who You Are”, which is said to be an extension on the imagery of Korn’s debut album cover art, which, in my opinion, is a fantastic and iconic album cover. It’s a shame that this one isn’t very memorable or interesting.

The picture was taken in Oildale, California, so there’s a theme here, apparently. Here’s their single “Oildale (Leave Me Alone).”

This is a terrible choice for a single, as the song is pretty lame.  Some clips of a few new Korn songs debuted over the weekend via Sirius Octane, and they sound much better. I’d even go as far as to say that “Pop A Pill” sounds really cool so far.

So maybe the album will be decent at best? I hold Korn in high regard, as they got me into metal and were my favorite band for the longest time, so it’s hard for me to give them a whole lot of shit…. but it’s getting harder for this new release, because the songs so far have been hit and miss–and most of the time it’s just been a big miss. But who knows, something good might come out of this.

Korn III is due out July 13th on Roadrunner Records.
