I know a lot of people, me included, owe their love of metal to 90’s – early 00’s nu-metal acts such as Korn and Limp Bizkit. For some reason, we forget that and there is a general hatred of this music in metal circles. Nu-Metal weened many people off of radio rock and rap music and introduced us to heavier stuff. In a sense, nu-metal is a gateway drug to real metal. Every now and then I’ll listen to bands I enjoyed growing up as a guilty pleasure and I think back to how much middle school sucked ass and how much the music helped me cope with that. Honestly, if it weren’t for Korn in high school, I would have lost my shit.

So I guess that’s why I don’t necessarily hate nu-metal. As I said, I wouldn’t be listening to these amazing bands that I listen to now if it weren’t for them. Instead, I would be listening to pop and rap. Buhh…

So, let us put down the Haterade for a minute and reminisce about simpler times. Here’s Limp Bizkit on their Unicorns N’ Rainbows tour performing “My Generation”, “Livin’ It Up”, and “Show Me What You Got”.
