Origin have posted a sampler video for their upcoming album Entity, and wow, it’s amazing. This will probably be their best and most diverse work yet. Check it out:

If you like what you hear, you’ll be pleased to know Origin will be on tour with Hate Eternal, Vital Remains, and Abysmal Dawn – check out tour dates after the jump!

Entity is due out on June 7th in North America and June 10th through Nuclear Blast Records (that’s this week!)

Now if you’re a drum nerd like me, this is basically porn. It’s good to know that Pete Sandoval’s temporary replacement is insanely good.

So at a recent drum clinic, Tim Yeung (whose also played with Hate Eternal, Divine Heresy, Vital Remains etc) played along to a brand new Morbid Angel track and it sounds pretty promising; even reminds me a bit of the Domination album. Not much is known about the new album except that it should be out in roughly June and that it will continue the alphabetical theme and begin with the letter ‘I’; I’ve  heard a few rumours/suggestions including the so-bad-it’s-good title; Ineptitude Of The Toad Merchant.

Also, to tide you along, check out this live version of new track Nevermore” – if you haven’t already – after the jump!

Thanks to MetalInsider for finding this very strange video, the guys in Cannibal Corpse seem genuinely happy to meet him but I wonder if Rev. Jackson is at all aware of the band. Also, more thanks go to Youtube commenters for pointing out that Rob Barrett is wearing a Vital Remains t-shirt, I can’t see Jackson approving of Dechristianize somehow.

I don’t get to go to metal shows very often, so I have to pick and choose wisely. It seemed to me that Summer Slaughter’s stop fell on a Friday within a 4 hour distance and had arguably the best lineup, so that’s what I set my sights on. I was ready to have a good time, and all in all, I did.

However, things started off in the shitter. I was planning on and looking forward to interviewing The Red Chord’s Guy Kozowyk, but upon arriving at the box office I was turned away. Apparently, the guy at the ticket booth was not given any names under The Red Chord’s list, leaving me a bit confused, annoyed, and somewhat embarrassed. Seeing my genuine look of confusion, he offered to go and talk to the band and see what was up while I waited. After a few minutes had passed, he came back to tell me that there was too much going on backstage to get a hold of anyone and that it would be a good 20 minutes before he could reach anyone. I then noticed that people were being let in, so I said “I guess I’ll just buy a ticket and come back later,” and joined my friend (who had never heard of most of the bands on the bill) in line. Sadly, the shit didn’t stop there. Apparently it had hit the fan and sprayed all over the stage.

I could see a show if I drove about five hours, but I don’t think it’ll be worth it. I mean, the lineup would make for a great show, as I enjoy The Faceless, All Shall Perish, some of The Red Chord, Veil of Maya, and Animals as Leaders, but I don’t enjoy them enough for a 5 hour drive. I’d do it for 4 though.

I need to move to a bigger city. This rural-ness isn’t cutting it for my musical sensibilities.

Decapitated
The Faceless
All Shall Perish
The Red Chord
Veil Of Maya
Cephalic Carnage
Decrepit Birth
Carnifex
Animals As Leaders
Vital Remains

Metalsucks confirmed that the rumors were correct. Everything makes perfect sense and isn’t shocking in the least, except of course for Animals As Leaders, who stick out like jazzy and ambient sore thumbs (in a good way). Everyone else is rooted in death metal/deathcore. I can imagine the deathcore kiddies being slightly confused for their set.

“WAT, NO BREAKDOWNS? WHAT IS THIS SHIT?!”

Everything looks pretty solid except for Carnifex, and they suck ass. It’s a shame they go on AFTER Animals as Leaders.

No tour dates just yet. I’ll get them to you as soon as they get to me and I get my supply of coffee and cocaine.
