Best of British: Throats

In honour of defunct-as-of-yesterday hardcore outift Throats, here’s a ‘Something Low From This Way Comes‘ from their self-titled EP.

God DAMN it. Another one for the tally of great bands lost this year.

That’s right folks; Twelve Gauge Records’ noisy hardcore signing Throats announced last night on Twitter that – and I quote directly – “THROATS IS DEAD. FUCK OFF”.

They later elaborated:

“We have decided to call it a day. We are thinking about a last show but it’s not 100% certain yet. Some leftover merch will be going cheap on the bigcartel in a few days. Goodbye.”

Seems like one of those things we won’t get much more information about. They played some damn good shows and put out some damn good records; not a dud amongst them. They will be missed by those who knew them.

The first support act came in the form of Holy State, who for me were unremarkable. They had a few good moments, but lacked that edge that makes an adequate live band essential. Most notably, they talked a little too much. This is a lesson a lot of small band could learn; more noise, less mouth. Like I say, not bad, but nothing spectacular. View Full Article »
