Within the Ruins are fast becoming one of my favorite bands with their consistently awesome music. They’ve just posted a video for “Controller”, the opening track of their new EP, Omen, which I reviewed right here.

It’s a video of the band escaping from a bank heist, interspersed with some performance footage. It seems like they’re going for a Reservoir Dogs vibe. It’s not the best video ever, but it’s pretty good nevertheless; and at least it’s not just a warehouse performance. As I mentioned, their new EP Omen is out now and you can catch them on the Summer Slaughter tour. Get the dates here.

Bad news for fans who were wanting to see Decrepit Birth this year at California Metalfest: Decrepit Birth have parted ways with drummer KC Howard and guitarist Dan Eggers have left the band. Here’s the band’s official statement, via their MySpace page:

Drummer KC Howard and guitarist Dan Eggers have both decided to part ways with the band. We want thank them very much for the hard work. KC left the band right after the recording of the new album, to pursue his career as a fulltime music teacher. KC contributed since 2004 and has been an integral part of the band over the past years. Dan who joined in 2008, decided to part ways to due to personal career choices. We wish them the best of luck and success in whatever they do.

For live shows, we will be bringing in drummers Samus Paulicelli (Ex-Abigail Williams) and Lee Smith (Estradasphere) both helping us (separately) on various future tours.

As well, guitarist Chase Fraser (Animosity, Son of Aurelius) will bring his amazing guitar skills to the table.

This temporary reconstruction of the bands lineup has left us no choice but to cancel for the 4th annual California Metal fest. We apologize to all the fans that were looking forward to seeing Decrepit Birth at the CAMF this year. We will be back for the Summer Slaughter tour 2010 with a new lineup and ready to perform a new setlist featuring songs from our upcoming album Polarity which will be released 7/27 on Nuclear Blast Records.

Well this sucks, but it’s good that they’ll be able to make it out in time for Summer Slaughter. The musicians that they’ve enlisted to help out are also very capable at pulling this off. Hopefully Decrepit Birth are able to pull together full time members in the future.

As announced, their upcoming album Polarity will be out July 27th on Nuclear Blast Records.

I could see a show if I drove about five hours, but I don’t think it’ll be worth it. I mean, the lineup would make for a great show, as I enjoy The Faceless, All Shall Perish, some of The Red Chord, Veil of Maya, and Animals as Leaders, but I don’t enjoy them enough for a 5 hour drive. I’d do it for 4 though.

I need to move to a bigger city. This rural-ness isn’t cutting it for my musical sensibilities.

This is one of the albums I’m totally stoked for this year, as if you couldn’t guess by how I cover every move Born Of Osiris make.

Here’s the tracklist to A Higher Place, which comes out July 7th on Sumerian Records:

1. Rebirth
2. Elimination
3. The Accountable
4. Now Arise
5. Live Like I’m Real
6. Starved
7. Exist
8. Put To Rest
9. A Descent
10. A Higher Place
11. An Ascent
12. Thrive
13. Faces Of Death

Sounds pretty rad to me. After the jump, listen to the track “Now Arise” and a meh-quality live bootleg of “The Accountable” played at Summer Slaughter.

Well, it looks like I wont make it to Summer Slaughter tomorrow. My ride fell through, so I’m stuck here.

If you can make it to the most badass tour of the summer, enjoy it enough for the both of us. If anyone out there can get me a decent quality video of Born of Osiris’ set, I will be your best friend.

If you’re within a decent distance of a show and aren’t going, what the hell is wrong with you? GO GET TICKETS.

So much news, I can’t be bothered to fill a page with new posts! Yay! Brace yourself.

Whoa, New Slayer Album Title

Slayer‘s new album will be called “World Painted Blood” and album is due out late this summer. Psychopathy Red is a good song, but it still sounds like the same old Slayer.

Howard Jones Still With Blood Has Been Shed

According to an interview with MetalSucks, Killswitch Engage‘s Howard Jones will doing vocals on the new Blood Has Been Shed album. The album will be called Enloco Tacoa and it’ll be out some point this year.

Suicide Silence Post New Track

Deathcore band Suicide Silence posted the track “Wake Up” on their emospace page. It’s off their upcoming sophomore album, No Time To Bleed, which will be out June 3oth on Century Media.

Despised Icon CD Release Date

Oh boy, more deathcore. I don’t much like them, but to each his own. Despised Icon‘s new album is called Day of Mourning and it will be out September 22nd.

Behemoth Join Three Summer Slaughter Dates.

Polish blackened death band Behemoth are attending a few dates during Summer Slaughter. And none of them are at the show I’m going to:

07/05-Edmonton, AB @ Starlite Room

07/06-Calgary, AB @ The Whiske

07/07-Spokane, WA @ Knitting Factory

Canada (and Washington) are lucky assholes.

You know, Speaking of Summer Slaughter, that shit starts TOMORROW. I’ll be at the Louisville show getting my ass handed to me. Check all that Summery Slaughtery stuff right hyar.

There we are. Now I feel like I’m up to speed.

Sorry dudes

Sorry for the drop in updates. There’s been a general lack of news worth posting, I’ve been kinda busy, and Mitch’s video card exploded (more or less) shortly after the blog was started, so it’s been mostly me.

I might be heading up to Louisville next weekend to catch the Summer Slaughter tour courtesy of Metal Injection’s contest. I’ve been on a roll with these contests. I won one recently on MetalSucks. The internet has been kind to me.

I’ll try to get videos and pics up here. Stay awesome and be patient. I’ll try to review the new IWABO album soon. Here’s a preview: It pretty much sucks.

Tosin Abasi of Animals As Leaders has joined Born Of Osiris for the Summer Slaughter tour, which kicks off next month. If you aren’t aware of Animals As Leaders, it’s Tosin’s progressive instrumental project that’s technically astounding, blending metal, industrial, and jazz elements to create this intricate music. If there was anyone right for the job, it’s Tosin. Skeptical? You won’t be after hearing this:

Animals As Leaders – CAFO

Born of Osiris’ new album, A Higher Place, will be available July 7th on Sumerian Records while Animals As Leaders’ debut is already out on Prosthetic Records.

Here’s your double dose of death and black metal news for today.

The song “Cataclysmic Purification” from upcoming album Blood Oath is now available for streaming at Suffocation’s myspace. Not exactly my cup of tea, as I’m into more technical and progressive death metal acts, but it’s still pretty good. If you’re into straight up death metal, this new song is a sure listen. Go see Suffocation this summer on the Summer Slaughter tour with co-headliners Necrophagist and a whole slew of other acts. The album comes out July 3rd in Europe and July 14th in North America.

Polish black metal veterans Behemoth have posted the artwork (below) for their upcoming album Evangelion, set for release August 17th on Nuclear Blast. The artwork itself is pretty epic. Apparently it depicts the Whore of Babylon. It’s supposed to represent rebellion against God. You know, typical black metal stuff. Keep a look out for these two albums.

Yep. Its a black metal album, alright.

Yep. It's a black metal album, alright.
