Enabler-Shift-of-Redemption

Enabler are a band that I told many people to watch out for. Being one of the top breakthrough artists of 2012 and also having their debut album earn a place on my year end list, this band means business. It’s no surprise that they have began to rise in fame, but what is surprising is that less than a year after their debut they are releasing an EP titled Shift of Redemption. While my mind is full of “wat” over how fast they did this, I’m beyond excited. New Enabler is awesome Enabler, and the band, judging by the single, haven’t changed one bit. The new track ‘Live Low’ is every bit as good as their debut, and for an EP, it will definitely hold its own among the rest of the hardcore scene. You can pre-order it here, and listen to the new single ‘Live Low’ over at Metalsucks. Follow them on Facebook so you can catch them live if they come to a show near you! Shift of Redemption will be out April 9th.

I don’t really know much about the band, but from what I’ve heard off of their new record, I dig them. Really good, quality metal. And the best part? Now you fellow metalheads can listen to the album, too! Metalsucks has the full album stream here. Nuclear Blast has pre orders here. And while you’re here, be sure to backtrack and discover more about the band than you ever knew before.

Monolith is out October 9th via Nuclear Blast.

Until I saw this, I didn’t know it was possible for someone to not only write the worst lyrics I’ve ever read, and “scream” for one of the worst bands in metal music, but to also be this big of an insensitive douchebag. Cold Soul is Frankie’s clothing line, which isn’t anything unusual. Many band members of various artists do so to provide some extra cash and keep it so they can do what they love and actually make money. That’s not the offensive part. What’s offensive are these three shirt designs. Just looking at them makes me uncomfortable, and I’m usually a sucker for shock value. After all, I have multiple Cannibal Corpse shirts, shirts with giant pentagrams that say “Born Again In Blasphemy”, etc. But these are just wrong.

The first has a picture of the Columbine shooters saying “Shoot First Ask Questions Later”. The second is from a scene in American History X and shows a white man blowing smoke in a black man’s face, with the text “Violence Is A Way Of Life”. The final one is a shirt with Arabic lettering saying “I Am A National Threat”, hinting at the ideology that Muslims are terrorists. Really Frankie? I mean shock is one thing, but these are just plain disrespectful. I hope you realize how big of an ass you made of yourself. Luckily, the shirts are no longer available, and Frankie kinda sorta made an apolo— oh wait, no he didn’t. If you thought people hated you before, then just wait; it’s gonna get way worse.

Lamb Of God vocalist Randy Blythe has been arrested, accused of manslaughter. Wow. Thought I’d never say that.

Apparently he got into an altercation with a fan while in Prague, Czech Republic on May 24th, 2010, and the injuries that resulted lead to the man’s eventual death. In Randy’s defense, then man jumped up on stage, and as we all know, after what happened to Dimebag, that’s a big no-no. Not much else of importance is known, but spokespeople for Lamb of God that spoke to Metalsucks said that the band’s lawyers are dealing with it and they expect him to be exonerated. Let’s hope so.

The Great Spotify Debate Rages On

If you follow Metalsucks at all, you might well have noted the large amounts of coverage, and in particular read the back-and-forth between Vince and Century Media’s bigwigs. For those who haven’t, basically: Vince <3 Spotify, CM </3 Spotify (and showed this by pulling all of their artists’ records from the service).

The issue has been covered quote a lot, but the latest to wade in – largely unprovoked – has been Sumerican Records’ Founder and CEO Ash Avildsen.

At this point I’m going to direct you to Grover of The Number of the Blog’s superb summary (or you can read the whole thing here, if you really want) of the statement. Go on and read it; I’ll be waiting.

Remember that new East of the Wall album we mentioned on Friday? The one called The Apologist, out on October 25th through Translation Loss? Well our brüs at dubyah dubyah dubyah dot metal sucks dot net have bagged a stream of a brand new track from said album called “Whiskey Sipper“, and if it’s anything to go by I can tell you that this record will easily match last year’s corker Ressentiment. But what are you taking my word for it for? Go listen for yourself!

It gets particularly interesting towards the end as well, and sounds like it’s going to launch into something very tasty.

So, my friends; thoughts?

It has come to Heavy Blog’s attention that a lot of rumours and secret projects are popping up all over our internets at the moment. Having the comparative deductive powers of Batman and Sherlock Holmes combined, we’re pretty sure we’ve worked them out. Can your own MENSA-esque IQs match ours, or are you the mental equivalent of a fetid banana? Either way, let us inform you of our theories. let the game commence!

Case 1: The Black Mass Conspiracy

Picked up by The PRP over the weekend, a couple of bands – namely Shai Hulud and Bring Me The Horizon – have been tweeting about this. Linking to this website, you get a thirteen second, Opeth-esque dark acoustic guitar loop that sounds like it’s going to build into something tasty. Never does, but it’s a brain teaser all the same. Also present is a live countdown, which will run out on October 11th, thank you very much.

This one may well have been cracked a full 57 days ahead of schedule though. We tracked down a Twitterite by the name of Curbside Audio, lassooed his feet together and dangled him over Paris Hilton’s gaping vagina, and got him to spill what beans he himself had…spull.

Mind you he got this information from Billy the Rat, who heard it from back-street Jenny, but it’s rumoured that New York hardcore band This Is Hell’s forthcoming album is to be titled The Black Mass. Given that it’s due out about that time, and both BMTH and Shai Hulud have toured with TIH in the past, and conceivably are friends, it makes sense that they’d try to churn up the rumour mill.

Case solved? Good as.

But wait! Our work is not yet done! Read on for more..

That’s right. Metalsucks are putting on a festival. Two nights of straight up tongue-in-cheek suck featuring headliners Municipal Waste and Cynic. There’s another good 18 bands yet to be announced, but it sounds super promising. It’s a shame it isn’t a summer fest, or otherwise I’d have tried to make a flight given the right finances. Unfortunately, I can’t make it. Getting an education sucks.

If you can make it though, don’t pass this up. November 4th and 5th at Gramercy Theater in New York. Congrats Axl and Vince, this is pretty damn cool. The internet has infiltrated real life!

GROAN. I’m sorry, I couldn’t help that one – it was just too easy!

So yeah, it’s been four years since we’ve heard from Nashville noise-merchants Today Is The Day with their last effort Axis of Eden, but they’re back with a vengeance with their new album Pain Is A Warning - and you can hear the track “Death Curse” over at Metalsucks reet now.

The album, which was produced by the musical super-being that is Kurt Ballou is out today via Black Market Activities/Good Fight Music. Thoughts?
