I start classes today. Shit. Here’s the short list of new music out this week:

Black Tide – Post Mortem (Interscope)
ICS Vortex – Storm Seeker (Century Media)
Leprous – Bilateral (InsideOut)

Dang. Sorry for the lame start to today’s news feed for you. Are you ready for a huge bummer? The next two news stories may just ruin your day, but hey, try not to let that ruin your week!

Ladies and Gentlemen, brace yourselves. Ihsahn is hitting stateside. The annual ProgPower USA Festival (which takes place in Atlanta) will be seeing Ihsahn’s first ever solo concert in the United States on the Friday lineup of the event, which takes place September 14-17th. Tickets are going fast, so if you want to catch Ihsahn (backed by Leprous), you’re going to have to hit it up super fast.

Also on the bill across the four day event: Therion, Evergrey, Sanctuary, Powerglove, Dream Evil, Voyager, While Heaven Wept, and more! Not exactly my type of Prog for the most part, but it’s still going to be a killer show if you make it. I’d love to see Powerglove, and Ihsahn is a rare sight to behold. Unfortunately, a two day pass (for Friday and Saturday’s lineup) is a hefty $126, and if you want to see the Wednesday and Thursday shows, you’re out more money. It’s a bit convoluted and pricey, but if you dig the lineup enough, I’d say it’s worth it. Possibly.

Hopefully Ihsahn makes more than one stop when he’s here! I’d give an arm and a leg to see him with the appropriate support lineup. Someone make it happen!

Ihsahn performed his first show this year at the Inferno Festival in Oslo, Norway. On Easter, no less. He is backed by the band Leprous and Shining’s Jørgen Munkeby playing sax. Check out those lights. Woah. Epileptics be warned during the really heavy and fast parts. If Ihsahn ever brings his solo act to America, you can bet you can sign me up.

After the jump, “A Grave Inversed”.
