110 – I Go Away For One Week, You Won’t Believe What Happens

The first episode of 2018 has to be a shitshow right? Noyan is away moving coasts (like, literally moving several coasts, not changing apartments), so we have Simon instead. Eden’s power cuts out several times during recording, both of them have terrible opinions and hilarity ensues.

They did get around to talking about stuff like new music from Justin Timberlake, Mammoth Grinder, Judas Priest, Vessel of Iniquity and Nightmarer. They then speak about Soundcloud kinda maybe going to 64kbps and Spotify getting hit with a huge lawsuit, which leads to an in depth discussion on the tools we use to listen to music. Then, they turn to the sucky treatment by the community of the rape and kidnapping charges against Decapitated being dropped, our newsletter (sign up below!), Simon’s 2017 and personal AOTY list and albums they’re looking forward to in 2018.

Cool people time includes Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy and Master of None!

White Moth Black Butterfly – Atone

When TesseracT’s Daniel Tompkins decided to explore his own pet project by joining forces with Skyharbor’s Keshav Dhar and Randy Slaugh to create White Moth Black Butterfly, it began as a modest attempt to explore some ideas that diverged from the type of rock for which his main band is most known. 2013’s One Thousand Wings (here’s what we had to say about “Certainty” from that album) was a sonic departure, to be sure, but it still maintained something of a kinship with its flagship influences. As with anything that we’ve come to understand about Tompkins, he will expound upon ideas over time and so the re-emergence of this project in 2017 means we should expect a few new twists, turns, and embellishments on the sound he helped to create several years ago.
