I just love 3 Inches Of Blood. I wouldn’t call myself a fan or anything, but I do get stoked when I hear them because they’re just so over the top that it’s just fucking awesome. Every time I hear ‘Deadly Sinner’, I get too into it and sing along in that Halford-esque high falsetto scream. It’s like Manowar without the overt homoeroticism; I’m talking beers, beards, and heavy metal songs ABOUT heavy metal. That’s something I can get behind.

Maybe there’s a chance they’ll make a full-blown fan of me yet with their new album Long Live Heavy Metal, which is due out March 27th on Century Media Records. Here’s what the fittingly named Cam Pipes had to say about the new record:

“When a band is releasing a new record, they often speak about it being their most important work or best album to date.  Regardless of how clichéd either statement may sound, I think we would say both apply to this album. All of us have a special feeling about this one.  We’re more committed than ever to the cause of real, honest, no bullshit heavy metal.  No trends, no fucking around!”

Starting in late March, 3IOB will be embarking on The Metal Alliance Tour alongside Devildriver, The Faceless, Dying Fetus, Job For A Cowboy, Impending Doom, and Wretched. Dates for that can be found after the jump.

I realize we’re about a week late on covering this tour announcement, but we’re (or at least I’m) getting a bit lazy this month. With a year’s worth of an average of 26 or so posts a week, cut us some slack!

Next year’s rendition of The Metal Alliance Tour is shaping up to be pretty cool, featuring the likes of DevilDriver, The Faceless, Dying Fetus, Job For A Cowboy, 3 Inches Of Blood, Impending Doom, and Wretched. I’ve seen The Faceless, JFAC, and 3IOB live before, and they all deliver. Can’t speak for the rest of the lineup, but I couldn’t imagine they’d be anything less than decent. The tour kicks off in March and makes a pretty decent run, so hopefully everyone who wants to catch this show has an opportunity.

Chimaira are going to be busy boys this fall. Not only are they on tour with Impending DoomRise To Remain, and Revocation as of October 12th, but they will also be linking up with Skeletonwitch (fresh from their headline tour with Kvelertak), Unearth and Molotov Solution about a week after that ends to give you a whole wealth of chances to see them live, if said chance might be your thing.

Jeff took a look at their new album the other week, and we’re pretty excited about all things Kvelertak, Skeletonwitch and Revocation, so you can’t really lose. Respective tour dates after the jump, courtesy of Lambgoat. In the meantime, here’s “Born In Blood” featuring Phil Bozeman of Whitechapel.

As I promised when I posted about this tour back in January and saw Norma Jean play at the Nile Theater live on March Second for their Explosions II tour, here’s a review of the gig.

Just as expected, Norma Jean did not disappoint. Their set was pure energy with every member playing their heart out, lead by their very passionate front man Cory Putman.  I’m going to try to piece together the show as best as I remember it. I won’t have you believe this is exactly how their set list was played. I’m too active a concert-goer to take notes. I headbang, I jump, and I scream every lyric I know when I’m at a small-venue concert.

I should’ve posted on this earlier, but its here now. Norma Jean is finally getting a very deserved headlining tour after their release of Meridional, and I have to admit I’m fucking stoked. The last time I saw them live they put on a very rowdy show, playing a varied set and maintaining all the energy expected from Norma Jean. What I must admit I’m not stoked about is this lineup. I personally never got into Stick To Your Guns, or Impending Doom. Of Legends stands out somewhat, and they have the potential to at least grow on me. I wish they had a better supporting cast, but I do realize that a lineup like this has the potential to draw new listeners and increase sales. Regardless of the opening acts, Norma Jean as a headliner will be worth the price of the ticket alone. I’ll be doing my best to offer a nice review of this concert after I see them at the Nile Theater March 2nd.

Tour dates after the jump!

Facedown Records, represent.

For Today are streaming their new song “Devastator” from their upcoming album Breaker on their MySpace page. As far as I can tell, the band have stepped their game up in terms of songwriting. It’s more than chugs and sweeps, so things are definitely picking up. Maybe their upcoming album will be something worth listening to. Maybe.

Fun fact: Mitch sort of enjoyed their album Portraits, and like it says in his bio (now located in the site footer) he hates everything. Either give him shit for it or take it as a sign that these guys aren’t completely terrible. Breaker will be out August 31st.

Meanwhile, Impending Doom are streaming the title track to their new album, There Will Be Violence on their MySpace page. It’s just about what you’d expect if you heard them before. You know, if people call Oceano Blackchapel, does that make Impending Doom Christchapel?

The new Christchapel album is due out July 20th.

2010 hasn’t exactly been kind to us. It took away James “The Rev” Sullivan, Peter Steele, Ronnie James Dio, and Paul Grey. Not only have the tragic passing of our heroes made this year one giant let down so far, some circles are calling 2010 “The Year The Festival Died,” and this year’s iteration of the Thrash And Burn Tour sort of provides evidence to the claim.

The lineup consists of headliners Asking Alexandria (wat?!) and Born of Osiris. Support comes in the way off Kittie, Stick To Your Guns, Impending Doom, Through The Eyes Of The Dead (for the first half of the tour), Evergreen Terrace (for the second half), Greeley Estates, Periphery, Motionless In White, and Chelsea Grin.

Fuck me sideways, that would be terrible. I’m not going to speak for the rest of the writers here, but I like Born of Osiris, and Periphery’s debut album is probably my favorite album of the year so far–but I’m not gonna drive for four hours to see Periphery play for fifteen minutes and sit through two or three hours of deathcore and bland metalcore to see them and BOO perform. If I already lived in a city the tour was coming to, I’d might consider going. But they aren’t.

Here are the tour dates:

Jul. 16 – Louisville, KY @ Headliners
Jul. 17 – Nashville, TN @ Rockettown
Jul. 18 – Milwaukee, WI @ The Rave
Jul. 19 – Indianapolis, IN @ Emerson Theatre

Jul. 22 – Salt Lake City, UT @ In The Venue
Jul. 23 – Las Vegas, NV @ Rock The Block
Jul. 24 – San Diego, CA @ Soma
Jul. 25 – Pomona, CA @ The Glasshouse
Jul. 26 – Fresno, CA @ The Crest Theatre
Jul. 27 – Los Angeles, CA @ House of Blues
Jul. 28 – Phoenix, AZ @ Nile Theatre
Jul. 30 – Albuquerque, NM @ Sunshine Theatre
Jul. 31 – Lubbock, TX @ Lonestar Event Center
Aug. 01 – San Antonio, TX @ White Rabbit
Aug. 02 – Dallas, TX @ House of Blues
Aug. 03 – Houston, TX @ House of Blues
Aug. 05 – Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL @ State Theatre
Aug. 06 – Atlanta, GA @ The Masquerade
Aug. 07 – Richmond, VA @ Hat Factory
Aug. 08 – Long Island, NY @ Crazy Donkey
Aug. 09 – Asbury Park, NJ @ Stone Pony
Aug. 10 – Montreal, QC @ Club Soda
Aug. 11 – Buffalo, NY @ Xtreme Wheels
Aug. 12 – Pittsburgh, PA @ Ches Arena
Aug. 13 – Cleveland, OH @ Peabody’s
Aug. 14 – Detroit, MI @ Harpos
Aug. 15 – Chicago, IL @ Metro

If there’s a tour I have a chance at seeing, it’s probably The Cool Tour, which isn’t all that great to begin with, but what other options do I have?
